The lovely "mum" is a popular and delicious cooling herb.
Ingredients:Ju Hua :菊花 chrysanthemum flower Flos Chrysanthemi Morifolii Jiang Can :僵蠶 silkworm; body of sick silkworm Bombyx Batryticatus These two herbs are added to the famous formula “Chuan Xiong Cha Tiao San” which is for the headache associated with the common cold, stuffy nose, or chills. The addition of these two herbs make this formula for the same condition, but with more fever and less chills.
Bo He :薄荷 field mint, mentha Herba Menthae Haplocalycis Jing Jie :荊芥 schizonepeta stem or bud Herba seu Flos Schizonepetae Tenuifoliae Fang Feng :防風 saposhnikovia root, ledebouriella root, siler Radix Ledebouriellae Divaricatae These herbs are said to push “wind” out of the body. Cold and flu viruses travel through the “wind”. However in Chinese medicine “wind” also includes being exposed to the external elements.
Chuan Xiong :川芎 Sichuan lovage root, cnidium, chuanxiong root Rhizoma Ligustici Chuanxiong This herb is used for all headache formulas. You wouldn’t want to use it alone, just as you don’t sit down for a bowl of salt, even though it tastes great as a seasoning. In Chinese medicine, pain is due to the lack of movement of either qi or blood. This herb supports blood circulation and has an affinity for improving circulation in the head.
Qiang Huo :羌活 notopterygium root, chiang-huo Rhizoma et Radix Notopterygii Bai Zhi :白芷 angelica root Radix Angelicae Dahuricae Xi Xin :細辛 Chinese wild ginger, asarum Herba cum Radice Asari (not included in online version) These three herbs open up the nasal passages, but don’t cause drowsiness like anti-histimines. They’re aromatic like Vicks Mentholatum®.
Gan Cao :甘草 licorice root Radix Glycyrrhizae [caution] This herb is added to most herbs to soften their harsh properties and prevent what might be called side-effects.

This formula can be used to support health with or without symptoms. If symptoms are present, take 1 level teaspoon of the powder (8 capsules) three times daily.
