Hi
I was wondering if rehmannia eight formula is suitable for me,I have pale red tongue (almost pink) with thin pale yellowish coating, some small cracks on middle and some red dots on lower burner with teeth marks on sides. I don’t have any symptoms just premature ejaculation which its been with me for many years. Do you think this formula would tonify my kidny yin and it’s qi?
Thanks
Hey Rey,
This formula is for those who lack physiological heat (or “kidney yang”). The tongue appearance for this condition does include teethmarks, but the tongue would be pale, not pink or light red.
The tongue would not have any red dots either, which indicate heat. This formula is for those who lack heat. Also; there are some large red dots, more like small circles really, that can appear on the back of the tongue. Not everybody has this, but many do. It doesn’t indicate a problem, its just something that many tongues have.
I actually have some sample tongues described on the EagleHerbs page devoted to premature ejaculation.
Miss you Al Stone! You were an awesome inspiring knowledgable teacher and physician.
Love your website! Can Rehmannia 8 be useful for diabetic neuropathy with addition of plantagoseed and achyranthes?
Also, do you have any continuing ed. seminars coming up fall 2014?
Su,
Sorry, no seminars planned.
Can Rehmannia 8 be useful for this condition? Well, yes under the right circumstances but might not under others. If a herbal professional saw or talked to you about your overall condition then it may be appropriate. I also have to careful in saying this because we can’t make “disease claims” such as diabetic neuropathy without incurring the wrath of the FDA (and in many cases for good reasons). Hope this helps somewhat.

Hi,
I have been told by TCM that I have kidney yang deficiency. I have teeth marks on side of tongue and lower back pains and weak leg (especially around menstration). Since some of the formula in Rehmannia 8 is not suitable for pregnancy, I was wondering what formula would be best to treat kidney yang deficiency if I would also like to get pregnant?
Thanks
Rehumannia 8 has precautions if taken while pregnant but it is safe to take until then. In fact it may help you conceive. If you think this is the right formula for you I wouldn’t hesitate to have you take it.
I just got the Jin Gui Shen qi wan prescribed from my acupuncturist. While looking up this formula on the internet i came across this page – if understood correctly – it’s not advised to take during pregnancy?
Thanks in advance for the advice
Thanks for pointing this out. As an on-line company we have to be especially cautious about pregnancy and what people might have read from other sources. There is nothing inherently toxic about Rou Gui or Fu Zi if prepared and prescribed properly. If this was prescribed by your acupuncturist then I would say that s/he’s advise is best than reading our page. Sorry to scare you or cast doubt on your acupuncturist’s judgement. In the right conditions this is often the very appropriate formula in pregnancy. I have changed the wording to include “without the advise of a professional herbalist”.
looking for something for bph, this formula came up. Not much mentioned about men’s health, lots about vaginas. Just wondering if this would help my patient.
It is not the first choice for BPH.
Bai Wei di Huang Wan isn’t really a BPH formula.
I would look first at Easy Flow and Easy Flow 2 which helps resolve some of the discomfort. http://eagle.eagleherbs.com/uncategorized/easy-flow-14329/
(In our defense, we try not to stress the male aspect and there is one mention of the vagina. :-)

Small cracks can indicate a deficiency of body fluids or Kidney Yin. If this is the case, a related formula is probably better for you called Anemarrhena, Phellodendron, and Rehmannia Formula if you got hot easily and Rehmannia Six Combination if you don’t.
