This a rather specialized formula that has a broad number of uses. In the Shang Han Lun (line 14) it is said: “Tai Yang Bing. stiff neck and back, spontaneous sweating, aversion to Cold, Gui Zhi Jia Ge Gen Tang is best.” (tai yang bing/

This translates to: “if there is an external attack aka: cold and/or flu with a stiff neck and back, lot of sweating, wants to cover up all the time then this formula can be recommended.”

Gui Zhi 桂枝 (Saigon) cinnamon twig, cassia twig Ramulus Cinnamomi Cassiae

Sheng Jiang 生薑 fresh ginger rhizome Zingiberis Rhizoma

Bai Shao 白芍 white peony root, peony Paeoniae Radix alba [supports pregnancy]

Zhi Gan Cao 炙甘草 licorice root Radix Glycyrrhizae [caution]

Da Zao 大棗 jujube, Chinese date Jujubae Fructus

Ge Gen 葛根 kudzu root, pueraria Radix Puerariae

This formula can be used to support health with or without symptoms. If symptoms are present, take 1 level teaspoon of the powder (8 capsules) three times daily.
