A formula for mental clarity. Based on Sai Luo Tong.
Description
Sai Luo Tong / SaiLuoTong is said to help with cognition.
We call ours modified because we can’t verify the match to the herbs that are cited in studies. We checked both the Chinese language and English language sources, the three herbs named are only part of the bigger formula. For that reason, I have added herbs from Bu Nao Wan which has traditionally been said to help cognition.
Note that this contains many blood moving herbs and should be used with caution – especially for those who are taking blood thinning medications.
Many of the ingredients are significantly higher than most herbs so the price is higher than most of our products.
The Ingredients are:
Ren Shen – ไบบๅ –ย Radix Ginseng – an overall tonic said to help with aging.
Bai Guo – ็ฝๆ – Folium Ginko – the leaf is well known for helping with memory. Here we can only get the nut.
Hong Hua – ็บข่ฑ – Flos Carthami -for blood stagnation, Hong Hua is not exactly “saffron” but is probably the best substitute and as true saffron is so very expensive it is very possible that this Hong Hua the actual herb cited in dementia studies. (Unfortunately the studies I’ve found in English say “Saffron is a Chinese herb” which it really isn’t. Here is a picture of Hong Hua which looks very much like Iran and India’s saffron. (Saffron costs $30 per gram.)
The following are from Bu Nao Wan:
- Yuan Zhi (Polygalae) is my favorite herb for โfuzzy thinkingโ. Its name translates as โfar away Mindโ.
- Wu Wei Zi (Schisandra) tonifies the Kidneys and therefore helps calm the Spirit.
- Suan Zao Ren (Sour Jujube seed) is used a lot forย insomnia. It nourishes the Blood and calms the mind.
- Shou Wu Teng/ Ye Jiao Teng (Polygoni Multiflori vine) Calms the Spirit and moves blood.
- Dan Shen (Salvia root) moves the blood and calms the Spirit.
- Zhi Mu (Anemarrhena) clears deficient heat and clears fire.
- Huang Jing (Polygonati) tonifies the kidneys without being cloying. One can compare it to Ren Shen/ Ginseng.
- Huang Qi (Astragalus) Raises Qi to the head.
