Benefits

• This formula is used to cool what is hot. Internal heat generally smells bad, very bad. This can apply to flatulence or belching. Heat can also rise into the “Heart” which is said to store the spirit. Heat in the Heart then, can cause one’s passions to be more intense such that one might make a mountain out of a molehill.

Ge gen (kudzu) is an herb often added to formulas to address neck and shoulder stiffness or muscle spasms, but it is also great for regulating spasms in the large intestine and regulates bowel transit times such that loose or wet stools will harden up. This particular formula is commonly used for that most unsightly of kinds of diarrhea one that is yellow, and explosive, with a strong odor that burns the anus. A closely associated situation is called “tenesmus” wherein one lacks the sensation of having completely finished their poop. There’s always a little bit left, or at least the sensation thereof.

Ge Gen 葛根 kudzu root, pueraria Radix Puerariae

• We love Kudzu at Eagle Herbs. It’s the bane of The South in the USA, but only until they get up to speed on its medical benefits. In this formula it addresses temporary diarrhea, but it can also be used protect the body fluids. If you’re losing a lot of body fluids because of the diarrhea, ge gen can be beneficial for supporting the body’s ability to extract fluids from your food and drink.

Huang Lian 黃蓮 coptis rhizome Rhizoma Coptidis

• This herb is excellent to stimulate those aspects of the immune system that protect the digestion from ugly microorganisms that shouldn’t be there.

Huang Qin 黃苓 baical skullcap root, scutellaria, scute Radix Scutellariae Baicalensis [supports pregnancy]

• Much like Huang Lian above, this is an immune supporting herb that promotes the body’s own antiviral and antibiotic protection.

Zhi Gan Cao 炙甘草 licorice root Radix Glycyrrhizae prep. [caution]

• This herb is added to protect the stomach from the “bitter cold” properties of the two “huang” herbs listed above. The Zhi Gan Cao (honey-friend licorice root) protects the Stomach and Intestines, plus is makes the actions of the two “huang” herbs more gentle and consistent rather than sharp and transitory.

• DOSAGE:

  Eagle Herbs is now supplying a 2 gram “little spoon”. (Please wash and dry before using.)

  An “average dose” is 10 grams per day of the granules or 20 capsules.

  A Big Dosage for Short-lived but intense issues: 3 little spoons (12 capsules) twice a day.

  A Smaller Dosage for Lingering low-grade concerns: 2 little spoons (8 capsules) twice a day.

  If you are very sensitive to medicines: start out low (1/2 little spoon or 2 capsules) once per day, and raise the dosage each day.
