Jin Fu Kang is said to benefit lung health in serious conditions. It has many of the same herbs as our other Lung formulas which have been shown to be beneficial for the lungs.

I have modified it however because some of these are not available to us as they are either endangered or considered too toxic.  I have taken out Jiao Gu Lan. It is one of those herbs that claims to “do everything”  yet is rarely used in Chinese Medicine.  In using it over the last 20 years I have found to have too many weird side effects. It is indeed a powerful herb but hard to control. Because many people taking Jin Fu Kang will also be taking western medications I think it best to leave it out. 

Note that most of the studies we see from China are done in hospitals and in conjunction with Western treatment.   

I have substituted 4 herbs to replace those left out.

Huang Qi – Astragalus membranaceus

Mai Men Dong – Ophiopogon japonicus

Nu Zhen Zi- Ligustrum lucidum

Yin Yang Huo – Epimedium sagittatum

Shan Zhu Yu – Cornus officinalis

Bei Sha Shen- Glehnia littoralis

Tian Men Dong – Asparagus cochinchinensis

• Bai Hua Shi She Cao – Herba Hedyotis Diffusae
• Ban Zhi Lian – Herba Scutellariae Barbatae
• Fu Ling – Sclerotum Poriae Cocos
• Gua Lou – Trichosanthes kirilowih

Shi Jian Chuan – Salvia chinensis

Hu Lu Ba – Trigonella foenum graecum

(Chong Luo – Paris polyphylla)

Shi Shang Bai – Selaginella doederleinii

(Jiao Gu Lan – Gynostemma pentaphyllum)
