It is based on Lui Wei Di Huang Wan with added “energy boosters” and blood movers. The Hua Niu Xi focuses on the “lower burner” or low in the abdomen. Liu Wei Di Huang is an often used and popular formula. The addition of Suo Yang and Yin Yang Huo are “warm and hot” herbs to stoke the fire which may have diminished in older age in both women and men.
