5 Ling Spirits

We sell this also under the name of Wind Stabilizer.

It is also simlar to JPZD.

This has been studied for use in a number of problems. It resembles Tian Ma Gou Teng Yin. In Chinese medicine this means “wind” or sudden, quickly moving actions such as facial tics and other diseases we can’t name due to the FDA.

Bai-Shao (Radix Paeoniae Alba) – Bai Shao moves blood but also “stabilizes” thus helping with muscle tension, spasm, and pain

Tian-Ma (Rhizoma Gastrodiae) – One of major herbs for spasms and “wind”. Also very expensive.

Bai Ji-Li (Fructus Tribuli )- mainly moves blood to get rid of stagnation

Gou-Teng  (Ramulus Uncariae cum Uncis) – With Tian Ma stops spasms

Ling-Zhi  (Lucid Ganoderma) – interesting herb that calms the spirit

Shou-Wu-Teng  (Caulis Polygoni Multiflori) – Also known as He Shou Wu and helps moves blood through the extremities.

Suan-Zao-Ren  (Semen Ziziphi Spinosae) – Helps spasms, builds blood

Wu-Wei-Zi (Fructus Schisandrae Chinensis )  – stabilizes

Zhi-Zi (Fructus Gardeniae ) – clear heat

Dan-Nan-Xing (Rhizoma Arisaematis bile) -clears the channels

Huang-Qin  (Radix Scutellariae) – clears heat.

No Long Dan Long Dan Xie Gan Tang

This is an Eagleherbs varitation on Long Dan Xie Gan Tang. Long Dan Xie Gan Tang over the past decades has been restricted to short term use. I couldn’t buy it at an herbal pharmacy in Beijing in 2005 for example.

Very cold formulas tend to damage the stomach over time but usually this is seen by the patient in their symptoms. With Long Dan Cao the damage is quicker and more insidious for the liver. Thats why we try to only use for a week at a time.

So we, Eagleherbs, have made this No Long Dan Long Dan Xie Gan Tang where we substitute a little Huang Lian for the Long Dan Cao. Users should still be careful that they don’t overdue it.

Qi Ju Di Huang Wan

Qi Ju Di Huang Wan is a good first choice for computer users. Staring at a computer for too long depletes the “liver blood” (the liver energy goes to the eyes) and makes them dry. Its like pre-menopause for your vision but instead of hot flashes you get tired, dry and fuzzy vision.

(I admit I often call this formula Qi DU Di Huang Wan- no idea if that is an alternative name or not.)

Ingredients

Shu Di Huang 熟地黄 cooked rehmannia root, prepared Chinese foxglove root Rehmanniae Radix preparata

Shan Yao 山藥 dioscorea rhizome, Chinese yam Dioscoreae Rhizoma

Shan Zhu Yu 山茱萸 Asiatic cornelian cherry fruit, cornus Corni Fructus

Fu Ling 茯苓 sclerotium of tuckahoe, China root, hoelen, Indian bread Poria Cocos

Ze Xie 澤瀉 alisma rhizome, water plantain Rhizoma Alismatis Orientalis

Mu Dan Pi 牡丹皮 moutan root bark, tree peony root bark Cortex Moutan Radicis

The herbs above make up the formula Liu Wei di Huang Wan with the addition of moistening herbs including Gou Qi Zi and  Ju Hua/ Chrysanthemum to help.

Gou qi zi – juju berries

Ju hua – Chrysanthemum
